ALA Annual Conference. I went to lots of classes, did LOTS of walking, and ate lots of gelato. I also tried all of the classic New Orleans foods that were listed in my travel guide book: po'boys, jambalaya, gumbo, catfish, beignets, and muffalettas.
I unknowingly booked a haunted hotel, and staying there for 6 nights was one of the scariest experiences of my life. We went on a ghost tour of the French Quarter, and our hotel was the 2nd stop on the tour. Yay! No sleeping for the rest of the trip.
We saw some live jazz at Preservation Hall, which was excellent. I loved exploring the French Quarter and especially liked all the bright colors, wrought iron, shutters, and gas lamps.
Overall, I had a fun time in New Orleans, but was very ready to go home. I'm glad I got to visit, but I'm pretty sure I wouldn't want to live there!
